Luxottica Receives Green Certification

MILAN — Luxottica Group is green certified. The Italian eyewear manufacturer said Wednesday it was included in the FTSE4Good Index Series, a recognition issued by FTSE Russell, a unit of London Stock Exchange Group’s information services division providing its clients with data solutions and analysis. The index measures the company’s commitment toward sustainability and social corporate responsibility taking environmental, social and governance footprints into account. In the wake of the recognition, Luxottica Group pledged to further enhance the company’s sustainable initiatives to contribute to the achievement of the goals promoted by the United Nations 2030 agenda. The FTSE4Good index includes 953 publicly listed companies, 22 of which are Italian. With the certification, Luxottica Group is joining other eyewear manufacturing companies seeking to further establish their environmental-friendly policies. For instance, last year Kering Eyewear inked a partnership with Bio-on, an Italian company operating in the bioplastic sector, to develop new eco-sustainable materials, while the LVMH-Marcolin joint venture plant Manifattura Thélios unveiled in April includes environmentally responsible solutions. Most recently Luxottica said the merger transaction with Essilor obtained the green light from the Chinese antitrust regular.
